Hey Donkeys! It's Spring!

Posted by Sharkey

Spring is in the air and that makes me so happy.  I decided to trot around the farm and tell all of my friends the good news, thinking that everyone would be as enthusiastic as I am.  Little did I know that the donkeys have their own opinions about warm weather.

I'm going to sneak up on the donkeys.

They're so busy munching away that they don't even notice me!

I'll just charge over to Clive.

Clive, don't walk away from me! I have something very important to announce!

Now that all three of you are together, I'll just address the herd.

Rufus, Billy, and Clive! Spring has finally arrived!

Don't act so nonchalantly - don't you know that this is great news for you?

What did you say? You don't like the warm weather because of all the pesky flies that bother you?

Well, I guess you have a point, but think of all the fresh fruits and vegetables you will soon be eating from the garden.

Oh, those silly donkeys. I'll go and talk to the horses instead. They'll be more enthusiastic with my news of spring.

  • God I love this blog!! Thanks and keep up the great work!!

  • Hello Ladies,
Glad to hear that it is spring somewhere. You are a great journalist type personality Sharkey. Sending news to all the farm. Not in Colorado. We are getting lots and lots of snow. All the schools are cancelled and no power at Dad's work, so he came home. We got about a foot and it is still lightly snowing. I have to supervise Mom and Dad on the shoveling from inside. Mom wants to get it done before Martha comes on television as her show has lots of good Easter stuff today. Mom really, really, loves crafts. Enjoy your day all!!
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hey Sharkey - where is GK? Did you girls finally ship him off in a box to somewhere else to get him out of your fur for the Spring?

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Sharkey you just keep spreading the good word; spring is here. I don’t blame those donkeys for not wanting it to be warm with all those pest around. When I was in Alaska, I kept seeing caribou standing in small patches of snow. I found out why they were doing that when I got out of the truck. There must have been a million pest around me in seconds. I needed one of those snow piles to stand on too; that would keep those pest away. Maybe you could put big blocks of ice out for the donkeys to stand around so the pest would stay away. Just a thought.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • oh I love Rufus, Billy, and Clive!!! they are so cute! Sharkey you are a hoot, running after those donkeys...lucky you haven't been kicked even out of fun.
great photos and fun time...thanks for sharing.

Kitty says meeuw, she's out watching all the birds and squirrles...she's in kitty heaven.

  • Keeping abreast of Francesca and Sharkey's activities is a joy! I have owned two dachshunds and am currently without one, so F. and S. help keep my small-dog-hilarity factor at a safe level.

  • It's Springtime for Bedford & Sharkey! You know Sharkey, it's three miniature donkeys to two French bulldogs and a Chow Chow and I don't see either Francesca or GK joining in to help you 'addressing the herd.'

Is that GK standing behind whatever that is on the right side in photos 5 and 6?

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey,
I’ve been following your blog for several weeks now and had to tell you how excited I was to find it. As a fellow Frenchie, it’s a lot of fun to see what your up to. Martha is lucky to have you two keeping things in order on your farm. Good thing for her we are such a take charge bunch. I know my mom would be lost without my helping paw around our house. Don’t worry about those Donkey’s Sharkey. Just remember you can lead a Donkey to spring but you can’t make him appreciate it. Enjoy the spring weather ladies. I know I am.

  • Hi Girl Friends, Well, MS Sharkey, I think you did everything possible to help the donkeys know that it is now springtime on the farm and it's hard to believe they aren't really excited about that. Maybe you are right-go talk to the beautiful horses. I'm sure they will be more than happy to know that spring has arrived. I'm sure they love the warmer weather just like you do. Hope it stays nice and warm there for a long time now. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
