G.K. can Read and he can Talk!
Posted by Francesca
Sharkey and I were very surprised the other day when we found so much food in the kitchen. There were bowls of this and trays of that and we could not imagine what it was all to be used for. Much to our surprise, little G.K., who is not so little anymore, informed us that Martha was having a dinner party, which would explain why Pierre, the chef, was visiting. Who knew that G.K. could read? It also seems that now he has a voice on this blog! I suppose it’s good to share.
Look at those pretty stalks of rhubarb. Rhubarb makes a really great pie!
Sniff-sniff - I think this is a large pile of rare morel mushrooms.
And here's a bowl full of green peas.
They're very pretty and it looks as though they are fresh, right out of the pod.
Now here's a bowl of something else that is green!
Sugar snap peas - all neatly trimmed.
What do you suppose these are, Sharkey?
Oh, those are fava beans. They grow in really large pods and I've heard they are a lot of work to shell. However, I've also heard they're quite delicious.
And just take a look at these asparagus spears!
I suppose it's too early yet for the asparagus in Martha's garden.
Will the bounty never cease?
Baby spinach from the cold house!
And tender baby carrots, too!
And Franny, take a look at this very fragrant chervil and rosemary.
Somebody must be planning quite a feast! I wonder what is going on?
Oh, my little Frenchies! It's time I spoke up because I know what is going on! You see, this piece of paper fell onto the floor.
It's the menu for tonight's special dinner that Chef Pierre Schaedelin is here to prepare. It looks like Martha's guests are in for a real treat! And we, dogs, will need to be on our best behavior!
