Dreaming of springtime

Posted by Sharkey

I was outdoors last week, dreaming of springtime, when I happened to see Fernando busy at work.  He was getting the pergola ready for some touch ups, before all the plants begin to grow and climb.  You may recall that I really love this pergola and all of the blooms that it supports.  Therefore, I was more than happy to offer my services to help Fernando with his task.

Oh, goody! Now that the snow is finally melting, I can envision Martha's pergola covered with beautiful clematis, one of my favorite flowers!

However, it seems that the top of the pergola needs a good scrub down. It looks a little dingy.

Hey, Fernando! Do you need some help? I'd be happy to assist with this task.

Not bad, Fernando. This brush passes muster.

The bristles are good for scrubbing and the handle has an easy grip.

Now its time to climb the ladder.

Just a few more steps and I'll be scrubbing in no time!

All this work will definitely pay off. Would you like to see what I'm thinking about? A penny for my thoughts?

  • Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!!!!!

Sharkey aren't the clematis just beautiful plants. We have one that grows up our mailbox every year and it looks so pretty. They should be starting to pop up in the next few weeks. Can I ask where Franny was during this project didn't she help?

Mom is going to Home Depot today to pick up some of Martha's new cleaning products. I'll let you know how she likes them.

I'm tired this morning I didn't sleep well. We had a house guest last night and he made all kinds of noise. Didn't seem to bother the Labs but every little noise and I was barking so needless to say mom and dad didn't sleep well either.

Have a great St. Patrick's Day and if you are going to sip some suds drive safe!!!

  • Hi there Francesca and Sharkey and Fernando: Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you and to all of you on the blog too.

You two and your mom are sure gonna have a lot of beautiful flowers this spring. I can hardly wait to read all about your adventures in the garden. I bet you'll meet some friendly Spring bugs crawling around the plants too. Don't eat any of them, it would be ookie!

I cannot wait for Spring to get here. My backyard is still too soggy to go running and then the next day it's too frosty to be running around. Every year the same old thing with the weather. But it will get here soon enough.

My momma sent away for some kind of candy called See's Candy from California. Their website is pretty cool my momma said. I didn't get to see it. Phooey!!!I would like some candy, but she said it is not good for me. Well, how do you like that!!!! She said she will mail it to North Dakota to her sister when it gets here on Thursday.

I think it's time for a snack. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Saint Patrick’s day??? You mean we have a day set aside just for Patrick? How neat! Maybe we can have a “Kirby” day too. That sounds good to me; let’s get going on that. Daddy’s not feeling very good this morning so no walk for me. Hope he gets to feeling better. Sharkey, you had better be careful around those ladders. I’ve seen how easy they can fall. Wouldn’t want to see you hurt. I know spring is here; the ice cream truck came by yesterday and I heard the music blocks away. Welcome yummy springtime.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies,
Sharkey, you are such a great helper. Where was Franny during this effort? Be very careful on ladders. I don't like them at all--very scarey!! Springtime will be here before you know it. Here in Colorado we have to watch it and not let our guard down. Sometimes in May when we least expect it there is a hard frost and wammo there goes everything--even on the western slope where the peach crops are, get it sometimes. I am going to do alot of resting today. The doctor's visit yesterday tired me out. I have been to about every department at this specialists so everyone knows me well and comes and visits when I am there. I met a new doctor and he was really nice--didn't even make me wear my leash when he took me for x-rays. He just carried me and then all the girls and I played. He brought me back and we all looked at my x-rays. He said I have really good, strong bones, no knee or hip problems. That is good. But then there is my spine. He put me on muscle relaxers for 2 weeks to see if things get better. If not, then an MRI thing and looking at disc surgery. I am going to get better on the meds I know and not have to have surgery. You all keep those paws crossed still. I know it helped yesterday. Well, Happy St. Partrick's Day to everyone. I don't know really what it is about, but I got a new green bandanna. Plus, Mom brought in some great smelling stuff to cook up yesterday. Have a great day everybody.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Sharkey, maybe you could post a twitpic of you, Franny, and GK all dressed up in some green later on hmmm?

Where were Franny and GK while you were helping out Fernando? Maybe they were off playing together finally bonding with each other.

So what's this about being out skunking last night? I saw Mommy Martha's tweet last night:

"the dogs just went skunking it is 60 degrees and the stars are out and luckily the skunks appear to be in at least most of them"

Are you two at it again? Haven't you learned your lesson yet especially since you both dislike baths so much. Hopefully you're not teaching GK skunk hunting. That would not be 'a good thing' at all.

  • ok Sharkey, blooming clematis and green grass? who are you trying to fool...or are they indoor?

  • Hi Girl Friends, Ms Sharkey, you sure did a great job helping Fernando clean up the pergola now that the weather is getting better and spring is only a few days away. Did you really climb that ladder?! I know I would have trouble even trying to do that. I will send you a penny to get the rest of your fantastic thoughts! Hope you and your friends had a great St. Patrick's Day today. Our day turned out nice and sunny during the afternoon and I love days like that! Love to all, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
