Sharkey Goes to the Vet

Posted by Sharkey

I've been feeling a bit under the weather, which probably is an exaggeration, since the weather around here has been horrid - cold, windy, and rainy, with a lot of snow on the way.  Anyway, I was coughing quite a bit and it was suggested that I might have swallowed something that got caught somewhere.  I needed to go see Dr. Marty at Smith Ridge Veterinary Center.  It's never fun going to the doctor, but this visit was different.  I got to see a whole new side of myself, or perhaps I should say - inside of myself!

It's just me? OK, I'll settle in for the ride and try to be brave.

Finally - Lou, the veterinary technician, came for me. They said something about an X-ray.

  • I hope you are feeling better now Sharkey, they checked you all out and your insides look fine to me. Feel better and stay warm and well. Happy weekend everyone.

  • Sharkey did they find anything wrong? I'm telling ya it's this darn weather. We have blizzard conditions here this morning, the winds are blowing and trees are down everywhere. Maybe you just have a touch of the flu. I was treated for that a few weeks ago was feeling much better but last night I got sick again. I'm coughing up mucus is that what you have?

Don't you just hate going to see the Doctor? Not that the Doctors and their staff aren't nice but it seems as soon as they see me, make a fuss over me they stick that thing up my butt to see if I have a fever - not very comfy. It's like - oh Zoe how is the baby gives me kisses, I kiss back than Hoochie Mama this cold thing goes right up my butt - what's up with that???

Well Sharkey, have your moma make you ground lamb with brown rice and some homemade chicken stock, that helps make you feel better. I have to go help mom now get our flashlights out we think our power is about to go out the lights are flickering.

Stay warm everyone and have a nice weekend.

    Zoe

  • Hello Ladies,
I am so worried about you Sharkey. Looks like everything was alright. Was it? I hope Mr. Fluff Ball, G.K. didn't bring some puppy germs to you. You know kids, they are always coming down with something. When will Mama Martha be back from Africa? That will make you better to see her. I think being in charge of the kid has not been easy, eapecially when Franny wasn't giving her best. Tasha had a bad cough last fall, when she had eaten something she shouldn't have and it scratched her throat. She coughed and made funny sounds for awhile, until it healed. Just stay warm by a fire and eat rice and chicken broth all weekend and you will feel better soon. Take care all.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’m with you in that respect; I don’t like to go to the vet’s either. I have to go for my checkup in a week or so. Hate those shots I have to get each year. I have been seeing this doctor for years but I still won’t take the treat from her; I’m trained not to take things from people I don’t know very well. All she has to do is just touch it and I will leave it alone. I don’t have any plans for the weekend so I just think I will have a few extra naps. Have a good weekend everyone.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi there Sharkey: Wow! I didn't know that you look like that inside. I have never seen myself on an x-ray before. Looks to me though, that everything is in order and you are fit as a fiddle. The weather is so awful, no wonder you didn't feel really 100%.

My daddy gave me my once-a-month heartworm and other worm pills yesterday disguised in roast beef. I felt really yucky last night because of the pills. I know it is for my own good though. I don't like any kind of worms.

I bet when spring rolls around, all of us pups will be so excited we will just run, and run, and run around the house and yard and have the greatest time.

It is awful cold out and really windy today. I think I'll go take a nap. Have a great weekend everyone. Zoe - Hope Sophie is feeling much better. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Darling Sharkey,I agree with Mrs.Bosley Chow Chow that your insides look just fine! Maybe you just need a humidifier in your bedroom at night; the hot/cold weather plays havoc with us pugs too-either panting or freezing. Thank goodness we have a puppy area patio somewhat sheltered! Hope you feel better soon! Love from all us pugs.

  • Sharkey, at least you had an attention-filled day without GK!

Franny was probably staying home to fluff your bed and have someone make you some soup.

    Get well soon!

  • guess my first comment went into a glich cause of an attachment...so lets' see what my paws had written.
You left us hanging...siltch, nanda, nichts telling us the outcome of your exam. Hope all is well and that you have a great weekend.
I was out the door to chase some chirping birds and mommie delia said, NO! geesh I'm a cat!

  • Dear Sharkey,

You think you've got problems? My owner is a vet! I can't tell you how many times I've been dragged off to the clinic because of something I've eaten. It's getting harder and harder to get into something, eat it, and have a nice nap afterwards. Daddy-Doc or the Warden (his wife) always find some piece of evidence, then off I go for another puking.

I hope you're back home and resting well.

I bet you didn't know that my owners got me because of Francesca. Daddy-Doc had a Frenchie in his practice that he loved (Jake), but his wife had never seen a Frech bulldog. One day, she saw Francesca modeling a lovely denim jacket for Martha, and she was quite impressed with Francesca's manners. She also saw the show when Martha had the whole audience on with their bullies. Wish I had seen that one!

That was four years ago, and here I am, alive and well. Thank Martha for me. I love, Love, LOVE Daddy-Doc, even though he is a vet.

    Nips and Licks,
    Holly-Bee

  • Hi Sharkey,
I'm glad to hear everything looks great. Take it easy over the weekend and hopefully you'll be your ole self again by Monday. Say hi to Franny and G.K. for me and I bet you are all anxious to see your mommy when she gets home! We miss her too.

  • Awww poor Sharkey. The weather this winter is simply awful-up, down, up, down snow, rain, etc. Bleeechh! Plus, you've become the de facto referee/peacemaker between Francesca and GK so it's no wonder you're a bit run down.

You're insides look good, you've got Dr. Marty and his wonderful staff making sure you're in tip top shape, and Mommy Martha will be home soon. Get some rest, stay indoors this weekend.

Have a happy, warm weekend everyone.

  • Hi Girl Friends, Oh, Oh, sure hope you are OK my wonderful Sharkey. I worry about all of you whenever you aren't feeling up to snuff. What did Dr. Marty do to help you feel better? Can't wait to hear that you are back to your lively self, with no coughing. Hope Martha is back home now to help love and care for all of you. Take care. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Sharkey, you beautiful inside and out! Hope you feel better quickly, you're in the best hands.
