G.K says hello to the donkeys

Posted by Francesca

Our new brother, Ghenghis Khan, (we call him G.K.) is a very curious and rather brave little tyke.  We've been working hard to teach him all about things on the farm.  We told him about the miniature donkeys and how much fun they are to chase.  Well, wouldn't you know it!  G.K. trotted right out the door and down to the donkey paddock to say hello.  Aren't you curious to know what they talked about?

Francesca and Sharkey keep telling me about the donkeys - I think I see them off in the distance. I'll go down there and introduce myself.

Oh, hi donkeys! My name is Ghenghis Khan - G.K. for short!

You're all white so you must be Clive.

And you're Rufus. What's that? You like apples and carrots? I'll see what I can do up at the kitchen.

So let me get this straight - Clive, Rufus, and Billie with the spots. You're all so nice.

I've heard that Sharkey likes to bark at you and chase you all around the paddock. I'll try to behave myself and treat you with dignity.

So far, Clive, now that Franny is warming up to me a little, the farm seems to be the perfect place to live.

You're right, Billie, I think we are going to be great pals and I won't forget about those apples and carrots.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Hello to you too GK. It’s so nice you are learning all about the farm. It’s good that you have others to play with. I just have mommy and daddy to play with. Yep, there’s the occasional squirrel to chase and the opossum which comes around sometimes, but that‘s it. I haven’t seen him for a while; I guess that last visit was too much for him. That’s when I snapped at him and got the fence instead. That’s when I cracked my tooth. It broke off the next day. One of the police dogs broke one of his canine teeth and had to have a titanium cap put on. He looks funny with the one silver tooth sticking out of his mouth. I’m glad it was just one of my small teeth; hardly shows at all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good Morning F & S

Oh look at G.K. sucking up to the donkey's offering apples and carrots. And where were the two of you during this visit? It seems that you missed a good opportunity to chase Billie Boy around the yard.
And is it true Franny are you warming up to G.K.?

Well it snowed again this weekend but the good thing is we only got a few inches. I'm feeling much better and only have to take my pills for one more day. The bad news is that Sophie, the blonde Lab, had to go see the doctor on Saturday morning. She is limping and did something to her knee. Mom is so upset because it might be an ACL problem. We had to go thru that last March with Precious the chocolate Lab. Sophie goes back to see the Doctor on Thursday and they'll give her something to take a little nap and they'll do x-rays and an orthopedic exam on her leg. Mom said it's always something with us kids :) We're hoping it's nothing major and it will heal with some therapy so keep your paws crossed.

Well I have to go back and sit on the heat vent. Have a good day.

  • Hi there GK: It's good to see that you are being really nice to the donkeys. They seem to like you very much. Please don't forget their fruit. It would be great fun to chase each other around. Not as mean chase but a let's have fun chase.

It was a winter storm here in North Carolina. Freezing rain on the coast and snow inland and on Sunday morning there was just a dusting of snow on the deck. Not very impressive, but momma already had been to the Wal-Mart for food and stuff on Friday afternoon. Momma said that according to the people who have lived here forever, when a storm is on its way, everyone goes to the store and buys bread and milk. Mom came home and said they certainly must have cause nearly all the bread was gone and there were only a few gallons of milk with the latest expiration date (whatever that is cause I don't drink the stuff).

Well it's still really cold and I want to take a nap. Take care and GK, stay away from donkey feet. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello Ladies,
Glad to hear that G.K. is learning the ropes around the farm--and lots of good things from you both. Good to hear Frannie that you are warming up a bit to the little guy. Little won't be the word to describe him much longer. I bet too that he will get in on the chasing of the donkeys with you Sharkey as he gets older. I am glad Zoe is doing better too. I was worried all weekend that it could be that dangerous Dog Flu. Everyone is back from ice fishing with lots of bigggg trout. Hopefully a nice, calm week around here.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • G.K. you are an adorable pup....and having the nerve to schmooze with the Donkeys Clive, Rufus, and Billie who are also adorable themselves... they seem to like you!

it's good to see you are not afraid of them, but you have to respect their space, otherwise you can get stepped on or accidently kicked...equine can kick out if approached from the rear if they are not aware of you, just a defense mechanism.

mommie delia and I are enjoying you on the blog here

  • Hello to you GK! It's nice to see you out on your meet-n-greet with the donkeys. You certainly are a brave little boy, getting right up close to them. Rufus, Clive, and Billie really seem to like you. Probably because you're not chasing them like Sharkey does...yet.

Aha Francesca, you're resistance is beginning to break down. I knew it was just a matter of time.

  • GK I love you I never met you but I love ya!

  • Hi GK, You sure are a kind and loving Chow Chow just like your great-grandfather, Paw Paw. When can we get together so I can help teach you how to get along with all of your wonderful kitties?! After seeing how well you get along with the donkeys, I'm positive you will get along very well with everyone. Take care and have fun. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO
