Remembering

Posted by F&S

We Frenchies are always amazed by how many beautiful things Martha has throughout her houses.  Of course, nothing can match the beauty of what we see when we look in a mirror.  Ha-ha!  The other day, we were bouncing around on the furniture when we happened to see some gorgeous little boxes on top of a table.  We figured out that they are memory boxes of some of her beloved pets, especially made for Martha.

Well look at this! It's a very beautiful collection of some of Martha's pets. Let's take them down on the floor so we can have a better look.

Oh my, this looks like Paw Paw. I remember his majesty.

Sharkey, these are exquisite little boxes.

Turn this one over and it says Limoges. We like it because it's French!

These other boxes are stamped with Staffordshire Enamels, made in England. That's where our cousin, the English bulldog, is from.

Martha also talks about another black chow called Max - very regal, indeed.

  • What is it today with the Blogs for God's sake. First mom reads Martha's and she tells us that Martyn was put down last week so she was all teary eyed and now you have me all depressed with your Blog. The last picture did me in, the two of you looking up at all the angels. Mom said it reminded her of all her pets that are now angels. What a way to start a Friday not to mention it's friggin snowing again. Does anyone know how many days till Spring?????

Well with all that said I have to go give my moma lots of kisses she looks sad.

Have a nice weekend everyone - stay warm.

    Zoe

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: It is true! When the furbabies live this earth, they go to heaven and become angels. This I know. They also occasionally come back to visit too. I know this to be a fact.

My momma has the urns for each one of her furbabies on the bookcase. She made a special place for them and their memory book. I see her, every once in a while go over to the urns and she will pat each one and say hello. It makes her so very sad. I always try to cheer her up.

My mom and I are very sorry to hear about Martyn. I bet he feels much better now. Please tell Miss Martha that I am so very sorry to hear that he passed away.

They said it was going to snow lightly today. I doubt it cause all I can see out the doorway is rain, rain, and more rain. Well take care. See ya later. I'm gonna have my nap. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
As I read your post this morning, daddy told me that it was good to remember the past and the joy it brought. Too many people try to live in the past. One must move on, but keep those memories close to heart. Thanks for sharing your past, and some before your time, with us. Daddy told me that he could remember his first dog sixty years ago, his favorite and of course, his best loved; that’s me. Have a great weekend even if it does snow; I really do like the white stuff.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • T.G.I.F. Ladies,
I can hardly type today for all my tears. Those are amazing little boxes you girls were admiring of all Mama Martha's angels. We read her blog and are so sorry about your family member, Martyn. You girls cuddle close to Mama this weekend and help her through a rough time. My Mama, Lynn is ill with a sinus/ear infection and wants me and Tasha close by for comfort, so I know your Mama needs you after everything she has been through beside Martyn. You two are certainly earthly angels indeed. Take care all. Have a warm and cuddley weekend.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Sweeties,
Yes, it's pretty sad around the Martha site today but just seeing you two has put a smile on my face. I hope mommy Martha will bundle you up one day and bring you to the show. I love when you visit the set. Be good!

  • Those are beautiful memory boxes. Such a nice way to remember Martha's past companions. That last picture of you two got me though. Between Martha's beautiful remembrance of Martyn and your memory box blog, I'm trying not to cry too much. Stay close to MommyMartha and give her lots of kisses and hugs.

Zoe: You keep right on being Zoe. Your comment made me giggle and smile.

Basil: Tell your Mama Lynn to take some Mucinex for her sinus infection. It knocked it right out for me in a matter of hours!

Everyone have a safe and fun weekend!

  • Ooh...reading that just sent tingles all over my body.

  • It's benn a long time since I wrote to you two girls, but I HAD to tell you that Beetoven looks just like one of my Mom's other pets. Her name is Beulah

  • Hi Girl Friends, Well, this week has been kind of a rough one hasn't it? I know how much you two girls love all of Martha's animals and I am sure you miss Martyn, too. It's never easy to lose a good friend and it takes a while to get over it. When my sister Cricket died from a ruptured disk, I was so sad for a long time. Mom was so good to take me for lots of walks and I met new friends everytime we went. It helped me recover and get on with our life, but I always think about Cricket. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxoxoxo

  • What a sweet touching blog today. What would we do without our animals? They bring so much joy into our lives.

  • Girls, I'm a day late in reading and writing this very evening, but I must say that what I've learned tonite while reading mommieMartha's blog from yesterday wouldn't've been any easier for me to digest yesterday or any OTHER day, for that matter! After I read about your big brother Martyn, I felt it coming...yes - finally...the tears began to spill over and I allowed a lengthy heartfelt face-in-hands-sobbing cry to take place, and I feel much - well, somewhat better now.

MommieMartha's memory boxes are wonderful little things, don't you think? She is a true animal lover, and these remind her of all of fluffiewuffies she had before you two even came into her life. One day, she'll prob'ly have some boxes there on her table of you two, but for now, she has you RIGHT THERE - to chase squirrels and 'skunkers' (aka 'polecats'), to be good helpers up on stools in the kitchen and even out in the maintenance garages, to 'play Barbies' with, while she dresses you up in your bejeweled collars and changes your outfits with the changing weather... She LOVES you two and ALWAYS has your best interest at heart.

For us humans, losing someone we love is really hard on us - that's how God designed us, but some days I really have to question the adage 'it is better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all'... The 'lost' portion of this reallyreally hurts and causes us sometimes to shield ourselves from loving another living creature!...but then I got to thinkin'...it's because of all the intense loving that makes the losing hurt so much.

In spite of all the wrenching pain, I think I'm gonna' just keep on loving!

I'm glad that mommieMartha doesn't have an memory boxes yet for the two of you!

    Lots-n-lots of love - hugs-n-kisses, too,

    =^..^=

  • What a great entry Franny and Sharkie. Yes, they are all angels now. Be strong and take care of Martha.

  • How Martha loves her friends. I have two and I can't imagine having memory boxes for them yet. One is a magnificent red Doberman. Alas, he will be 9 years this year. Becoming an elderly man. Love them so. Thank you for always letting me share your memories.
