Fishing at the reservoir

Posted by Francesca

Sharkey and I were exploring the other day when we came upon the nearby Cross River Reservoir.  It was amazing how many rowboats there were upon the shore.  Sharkey told me that she has seen people fishing from these boats and that got us dreaming about a fresh caught fish for dinner.  However, we Frenchies need to work out a few logistics.

Sharkey, this must be the reservoir, but look at all of these boats! Why do you suppose there are so many?

Franny, when we drive past the reservoir, sometimes I see people in these boats on the water fishing! Wouldn't it be nice to catch a fish for dinner tonight?

Franny, I think I can push this rowboat out onto the lake - can you help give a shove?

Push! Push!!

That one seemed like it was stuck to the ground. Lets check this one out.

Well, will you look at that! The water is frozen, Sharkey!

Wouldn't you know it! Foiled again! Unless you want to go ice fishing - but I've heard that's about as exciting as watching paint dry - we're going to have to wait until spring to catch our fish! It might also be helpful to have a rod and some bait!

  • Good Morning F & S

Fishing in this weather???? And yes ice fishing is like watching the grass grow as my dad would say - cold and boring. Maybe in the spring you can take a fishing trip but make sure you bring a pole and bait!

So I see GK made his first TV appearance. And was I the first to call him GK or what?? I think I was on the Daily Wag. Franny, you don't look too thrilled with the boy, what's the matter is he getting all the attention? He is cute but not as cute as us Frenchies. I'm sure Martha is all goo goo over him, everyone loves a new puppy. I have an idea, go sneak in her closet and grab her favorite and most expensive pair of shoes and give them to GK to play with - HA! - that will piss her off then she'll come to her senses. Or teach him this trick - one of my favorites to piss off mom is to grab the end of the toilet paper and run all over the house with it and then chew it up. Her face gets so red and I hear ZOE you little B*@#% ! Oh the joys of being a Frenchie, I'm so cute who can get mad at me :)

Well I'm happy it's Friday my mom will be home all weekend. Can't wait to see what we cook up. I heard her telling dad she is buying an icecream maker so she can start making her own sorbet. Her sister made us a blood orange sorbet and boy was it good. Mom gave me a taste and it was wonderful. I'm looking forward to this project.

Well have a nice week everyone.

    Zoe

P.S. Do you want me to come with mom to the show on Tuesday? Maybe the kid, GK will be there. I'd love to meet him. The 4 of us can hang out :)

  • Hello Ladies,
You are not prepared for ice fishing. My Dad is going this weekend and next weekend, and Mom says she went once when they were first married and can't see the excitement at all, and she loves snow too. It takes lots and lots of tools I think. Anyway, by the stuff I see Dad getting ready with each night. I saw the new GK on the show with you gals yesterday. Franny, I noticed that Khan is getting lots of attention. Is it you don't like that GK name--like he is better than you? Well, you have to join in like Sharkey and play with him. That way you ladies can mold him in your image. Just remember, he won't be little and cute forever. He will get big and not go to work and on outings with Mama Martha. You girls are still the stars. Believe me he will grow out of his cute little fluff ball stage. Not like us Frenchies that keep our cuteness forever. You both are always stars in my eyes.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Francesca I got a good laugh when you said a very true thing, "ice fishing is about as exciting as watching paint dry"

Having lived in California most of my pre Wisconsin life I never heard of ice fishing, that was introduced to me in a Walter Matthau movie, and then seeing it for myself here...I ask WHY would anyone sit out on a frozen Lake with subzero weather for a fish??? guess I don't understand because I'm not a fish eater...anyway, I again enjoyed your inquisitive ways.

we're having a heat wave here of 30 degrees, Kitty is out enjoying the warm weather, so I'm alone reading the blog this morning...boohoo cold and snow is coming again next week...ahhh waiting for Spring!

a note: Yesterday on the MS show they gave all the audience members some of her cleaning products, it's so good to see where MS are going with this...

I personally knew Dr.Shaklee(I designed labels & brochures for biodegradable prod.) he was so far ahead of his time with his products...too bad back in the '50/'60s the rest of the industries didn't think of this, we would be ahead in saving this planet...so Martha, Thank You for doing your part in saving earth.

    enjoy your weekend,
    from delia and Kitty

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well it’s almost the weekend already. It’s still raining outside for the second day in a row. It has to stop sometimes and then I will get my walk. I saw G K on Martha’s show yesterday. What a cute little guy he is. Daddy got out my pictures of me when I was a pup for me to look at. The little guy looks just like I did when I was that age; right down to the little black on the tip of his tail. I know that he will grow up to be one handsome dog; I did. Mommy and daddy had a dog they called G W. They got him on George Washington’s birthday. Sharkey has the right idea; make friends with him now while he’s small. Yawn, excuse me, time for my nap.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • My favorite little tail waggers are so cute and curious as always. You are true artic doggies and you really love the ice and snow I'm from the south and it rarely snows. You are fashionista ladies, dressed in the height of style as always. Wish I could come and visit you at your farm. It's my dream place and Martha has made it a big success in all things.

I have a poodle, Molly Mae, a siamese kitten named Snuffy and a big fat cat named Hobo. Of the three, Snuffy would love to be your playmate.

  • Francesca, I thought you and Sharkey might enjoy this video of a French Bulldog who babysits orphaned babies.

Or perhaps Martha might enjoy it.

    You two are adorable.

  • GK's cute puppy face hit me in the face like a big PIE-WACK from Soupy Sales....he is so darn gorgeous.
    Congrats....from a former Chow-Chow breeder.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of him...You need that beautiful "LION DOG" around you on that show....
    PLEASE.

  • Don't forget to watch tv....telethon is everywhere!
HAITI AND THEIR PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE THAT DESERVE ATTENTION.
THEY'VE BEEN ABUSED FOR SO LONG..NOW IS THE TIME...
    JOY,PEACE,LOVE ALWAYS,
    YOUR FRIEND ALWAYS

  • Hi Gals,
It has been such a busy time here, but I missed you much.
It's raining cats and dogs here but lucky not raining any Chow Chows!
Fishing sounds fun but it looks really cold there on the farm and in NYC.
I saw your new little brother on the show yesterday he is such a cutie.
Chow Chows pretty much come potty trained did you know that? They are the cutest of all puppies in the world, so GK is going to end up being such a handsome doggie because his Chow markings are really grand. Take it from me I am a Chow Chow lol! You gals are pretty gals too, so you be nice to little brother until he gets to know the ropes and the farm then you can get him in line and make him your muse later lol!
    I love your little jackets.
    Happy & safe weekend loves.
Love & smiles Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow

  • Guess the 'fish' got away! :)

    Best to order in tonight.

Maybe some Chinese and a good chick flick!

    Love you both!

  • About as exciting as watching paint dry? Haven't you ever had fun with wet paint, making paw prints or carving your initials in it? (Usually this endeavor is followed by hearing the words "Bad Dog", but hey, fun is fun!) I don't think ice fishing would be much fun unless you were to throw the cats in and pretend they're fish (catfish, get it?). Such an endeavor would likely also be followed by hearing the words "Bad Dog", but it would again be well worth it! BTW, is Julie Andrews really the tooth fairy? I need some quick cash! Bye!

  • Ahhhh...I thought writing headlines and news stories for The Onion would be my dream job...until Martha (brilliant iconic woman that she is) decided that you frenchies had to have your say.

  • Hi Girl Friends, Have you ever gone fishing in a boat on a lake before? I haven't, but maybe sometime my Mom might take me on a boat fishing trip. I'm not sure how I will behave with something new like that, but maybe I won't be afraid like I am sometimes when I try or see something new. Thanks for your great blog. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO

  • ...exciting as watching paint dry... You girls crack me up with some of the things you say, ya' know that?!... (UncleEliad, are YOU the one who comes up with these madcaps?! [giggle] )

Well, girls...looks like you just might have to wait for spring for a fresh catch-of-a-fish dinner. And really, it's good that you WEREN'T able to push one of those boats out into the water - it looked like it was about dusk there at the reservoir and it would be getting dark soon! We wouldn't want you precious two out after dark -- unattended-n-all...

Well, it's early Sunday evening - I'm a little late in posting, I know... Have a comfiecoziewozie evening tonight with mommieMartha and your other brofurs-n-sisfurs (and go easy on little furrieburrie GK, ya' hear?! - be nice girls and welcome him into your little canine circle!)

    =^..^=
