An Easy Way to Help

Posted by Pia

As we gear up for the Purina ONE Tour for Heroes in February, I wanted to tell you about a great way to let people know about adoptable animals that also helps feed homeless pets. Just visit MarthaStewart.com/pet-adoption between January 15 and March 31, 2010, find an adoptable pet using the search tool, and click to share that pet’s profile with your Facebook friends. Each time you do, Purina ONE will donate $1 worth of pet food to food banks across the country  -- up to $50,000 worth of pet food! You’ll be doing your part to publicize these animals’ urgent need to find a loving home, and help keep other needy pets in their homes and out of a shelter.

  • This is a great idea! It's about time we used Facebook for good, instead of it being a forum for useless and private information.

  • Dr. Pia

They are all such cute animals. I know my mom would love to have another pet but dad said 4 dogs is the limit.

Why didn't Ms. Martha adopt one of these pets instead of getting another Chow? There are so many pets that need homes can't she bring one of these little guys home?

My mom is going to see The Martha Show next Tuesday. Do you want me to come with her? I'm available for a play date if you are :)

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Hello Dr. Pia, Thanks for the update on the latest places where pets may be adopted. My daddy helped me search the net shelters for Chows and found that there weren’t very many listed. I guess that we are a breed of dogs that are not adoptable. It’s for this reason that mommy doesn’t want another Chow Chow; says she is too old and doesn’t want to leave an un-adoptable pet behind.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • what a great idea for the Facebook participation...better then those useless Games people play all the time...the photos of these adorable pets are heartwrenching and beautiful...God Bless them all!
I'll go do my Facebook participation now...

    have a great weekend Dr.Pia,

  • Hello Ladies & Dr. Pia,
What a wonderful thing this tour is and Purina for getting behind it. I hope many of our shelter and homeless friends get adopted. You know our Lab, Tasha, was adopted. Mom says she just spoke to her when she saw her in the shelter. What a great cause, and so many great friends.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello,

I just wanted to say thanks for being so kind to the animals in our world. *Too,* I have to say--G.K. is the cutest!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, the lucky audience member who got to hold him during today's show!!!!!

    Hugs and kisses.
A fan of the show and lifestyle.

  • Hi Dr. Pia, You certainly do post some great blogs. Your ideas about adopting and caring for all animals are superb! I love the photos you shared again of beautiful animals up for adoption. The beautiful cat in photos #6 would sure be a great addition to Martha's wonderful animals. Thank you for all you do! Jan (Dudley Do Right's Mom)
