A Visit To Parrots Of The World

Posted by Francesca

After we went shopping with Martha at The Home Depot, we remembered that Uncle Marc Morrone has a great store called Parrots of the World Ltd., located in Rockville Centre, New York on Long Island.  We love visiting all the animals and asked Martha and Uncle Carlos if we could stop there.  As usual, we had a blast!

Sharkey, I smell so many animals! I can't wait to visit each and every one.

Marc and Martha are old friends and posed for a photo. Martha is carrying a special sandwich that she bought at a little place called, Happy Hostess, next door to the pet store.

This bunny seems to like us. I guess he doesn't know what kind of hunters we really are.

As usual, we Frenchies were very popular with the customers, even though we weren't for sale.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to carry your homes around on your back?

Oh Franny - take a look at this snake!

How does one go about playing with a snake? I mean, there are no arms or legs! Kind of creepy, if you ask me.

What have we here? Why it's a white ferret! Like all of Marc's animals, it was very friendly. However, we are hunters, first and foremost!

My natural instinct is to go after you, however, you're so cute that perhaps I can learn to be nice.

Oh my - Marc has quite a few ferrets. He says they make excellent pets. Maybe we should get one.

We're told that these chinchillas are actually granddaughters of Martha's old chinchilla, Snow White. We can see the attraction - they're so soft and cuddly and beautiful. I wonder if they like to play?

The owner of the Happy Hostess www.happyhostess.com caught us before we left and gave Carlos a quart of his delicious chicken soup with matzoh balls. It smelled really good. Carlos enjoyed the sandwich and the soup.

  • Good Morning F & S

What a fantastic store, so many animals to hunt. Those ferrets look like interesting animals to chase, ugly little critters. They have a face that sort of looks like a mole, they are my favorite to hunt.

Well today I have to go see Dr. Keefe :( It's time for my annual checkup and mom says I need a few shots, I am not a happy camper. First of all could a girl get a little privacy??? She was following me around this morning with a plastic bag waiting for me to poop. She was in her PJ's, in the dark in freezing weather and this woman is trying to catch a turd. Not a pretty picture. I really like Dr. Keefe and all the girls that work in his office but they all make a fuss over me then I pee on them. I get so excited it just happens. Then they try to distract me as he shoves a needle in my tiny butt - it's not fun. I don't know what's worse, getting my nails trimmed or getting a needle :(

Anway, that is what I have to look forward to this morning. The only good thing is that Dr. Keefe always gives out good treats maybe I'll beg for two.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
What a day you two had at the pet store. I don’t usually get to go to the pet store; it seems that I want to leave my mark everywhere and the store owners don’t seem to like it much. Daddy has to keep a tight leash on me when I do go. I don’t think that he understands why I must leave my mark everywhere. When we walk, I often run out of the marking fluid and daddy says that I am dry marking, what ever that means. Anyway, I have lots of animals which visit in my back yard. Sometimes I have a hard day just keeping them away; squirrels, rabbits, opossums, cats, coons, and the like. Now as for the birds, mommy likes them so they can stay and eat.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: Oh boy! What a treat to go in to that store and see all the different birds and animals. I would be afraid of the parrots. They might try to bite my nose. Those turtles look real interesting and so do the ferrets. They would be lots of fun to play with. Maybe momma could buy me one. Hey yeah! I could have a ferret sister or a turtle brother. How cool is that?????

Speaking of cool. Momma found out recently that she has a sister she didn't know she had cause she thought she was the only one in the family left. She got to talk to her last night on the phone. Momma said it was like finding out she won the lottery.

I just don't know about momma. I have two sisters and three brothers who are all adopted out now, including my birth mom. What is she so excited for? I don't know. I couldn't wait till I got away from my siblings and go to my swell "forever" home.

It's very cold outside, so I'm going to take a nap. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello Ladies,
I envy you going into Marc's Pet Store. I am not allowed to go to pet stores because of my immune disorder--germs you know--they think I will get one of those things and end up at the doctor's. Well, I have seen turtles before, but not parrots or ferrots. The parrots scare me a little because I think they might attack my big eyes. You girls are very brave to be in a pet store. It was a fun trip, getting to see all the animals. Thanks ladies.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • oh I love those Parrots! Lucky for you two pups that they did not take off the tip of your noses...
Happy Hostess looks like a place that would be nice to visit and eat.
Sounds like a fun day again going shopping with Martha and Carlos.

  • Hi Girl Friends, Oh, how lucky you two were to go to Marc Marrone's pet shop and see all of those wonderful animals!! That must have been really fun after visiting with all those people at Home Depot. What a great day you must have had!! I think Marc is a great guy who really cares for all animals!! Where are you going next?! Also, when will your new baby brother be living with you?! My Mom and I are both anxious to know. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxoxo

  • I love going to pet stores! I always get a lot of attention and free treats! Sharkey, I think you should ask Martha to buy one of the white ferrets for you to carry on your back as a fashion accessory. You'd look sharp! I think turtles are boring, though...too slow, and no imagination. Bye!

  • Uncle Marc's store looks absolutely fabulous, girls - a wonderful place to work AND to visit, wouldn't ya' say?! Like you said...I'll bet there were so many new smells to take in, that your little button noses were just twitching away!

Unlike my many friends here on TheDailyWag who actually WISHED they could go into their local pet stores, I don't think it's something that my Mandy would want to do. Talk about a 'fraidiecat!...she'd be physically climbing my body to find an escape route! Anything new must be researched on HER terms.

This looked like a wonderful day, girls...mommieMartha, Uncle Carlos, Uncle Marc - all of your favorite people were with you - all the ones who love you beautiful little two!

    =^..^=
