What is that noise coming from the stable?
Posted by Sharkey
Yesterday, Franny and I were outside playing when we heard a lot of banging noises coming from the stables. It's always a good idea to check these things out, so we trotted on down there. You know how curious we are.
Francesca, there's a lot of banging coming from the stable area. Let's go check it out. But first, let's say hello to the horses in the paddock.
Hey big guys - how are you doing? Just wondering - why do your hooves make such neat arched footprints?
Sharkey, if you wait just a minute, I Martyn, will tell you all about horse shoes. Don't be in such a rush!
Silly Sharkey, she could have stayed for the answer.
Francesca! I can tell you all about horseshoes. Wait! Where are you going? Why won't either of you listen to me? I'm a mighty horse, after all!
So this is where all the racket is coming from. It's Linda, the farrier, hammering away on her anvil.
We love when Linda comes because she always has treats for us.
What? You want ME to wear your welding goggles? No thanks - I think I'll decline.
Wow, that looks really HOT!
Look at all of those sparks - better to stand back.
So, let me get this straight. You hammer these shoes onto the bottoms of the horses hooves? Now it's all beginning to make sense.
And these horseshoes are what makes all of those interesting prints!
Thanks for clearing that up for us, Linda. You know what we Frenchies always say? You can and should learn something new every day!!!
