2009 - A Great Year!
Posted by Francesca
When we Frenchies reflect back on this past year, we're kind of amazed at how much we have accomplished. What's really great, is that we've been blogging our experiences all along. Here are some of our favorites to share with you again. Oh right - we almost forgot - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
We tried our paws at auto mechanics!
1 So Steve, do you think the distributor needs to be replaced? This Hi-Lo has been running kind of ruff lately. Hey Franny? How's the tire pressure?
2 ' Well Sharkey, where did you get such a vast knowledge of mechanics?'
3 Franny and I are like little sponges and we've learned a lot from being around Martha. We even perform regular maintenance on her Kawasaki.
4 Steve, do you need a socket or an open-end wrench?
5 Steve, looks like these lug nuts need a torque adjustment.
6 Lets check out the lift mechanism - raise 'er up, Steve!
1 These freshly picked apples have a very good fragrance. They will be delicious in a cake.
2 How many cups of sugar do we need, Franny?
3 Sharkey, look at the recipe and tell me how much flour we need.
4 I collected these eggs this morning from the chickens. Now I'll break them into a bowl.
5 I love stirring the batter. I can't wait to lick the spoon!
6 Three cakes - bluberry, chocolate chip, and apple!
7 Everyone was so impressed with the cakes we made. Happy birthday Fernando!
Went beach combing with Martha
1 Franny, where do you think this rope leads to? I'm not going into the water to find out.
2 Sharkey, can you believe how much seaweed has washed up on the beach? Martha says it's called kelp.
3 Hey, little boy. We like to play with trucks. May we play with you?
4 Hey Sharkey, where did you go?
5 Over here, Franny - do you think there's a storm coming?
6 What's this I smell?
7 Hmm...we better get to the bottom of this.
8 Oh look, it's just a gull feather. You know, those gulls are never very friendly unless you feed them.
9 Oh thanks - I just love muscles on the half shell.
Got spooked out during Halloween!
1 I put on this witch's hat and many spooky things started going on around the farm...
2 It started when we came back from a long walk and found these horrors at the gate! - spiders and a green skeleton!
3 Relax Sharkey, there's nothing to worry about here.
4 You see? This is just fun Halloween stuff.
5 I can't wait for this evening when that candelabra will be glowing!
6 Laura Acuna, did a great job with all of the decorations.
7 Empress Tang wanted to visit the canaries in the brown room but was distracted by this spooky table.
8 Her eyes were drawn to the colorful little pumpkins.
9 She started sliding them around on the plate like it it was some big game.
10 Then she saw the spooky black cat and the human skull!
11 And then she screamed! What a scaredy cat.
12 We decided to go to the brown room ourselves to see what made Empress Tang scream so loud, when we came upon this spiderweb carpet from FLOR. It made us shake.
13 Things DID look kind terrifying in the brown room. Sharkey, this skull is REALLY kind of scary looking.
14 Ooooh - I have goosebumps!
15 Sharkey!! There is a big black spider on your head!
16 But Franny! You have the hand of a skeleton on your head!
17 Sharkey, what's going on here?
18 I can see why Empress Tang was scared of that cat - it looks so mean!
19 Franny, this IS kind of spooky - let's get out of here before it's too late!!
Voted in the election
1 Here is what our ballot forms looked like. We were voting for Councilpet at Large and First Selectpet.
2 As you can see, Clive the donkey, Meindert the horse, Bartok the cat, Francesca the Frenchie, Sharkey the Frenchie, and Vivaldi the cat were all hopeful contenders. Why, we the Frenchies, were running against each other, we just don't know.
3 Ha-ha-ha! I, Vivaldi the cat, am going to play a little trick on those Frenchies!! After all, they're always so smug.
4 I'll just tape this sign onto Martha's paper shredder.
5 I'm casting my vote for Clive the donkey and, of course, for myself, Sharkey the Frenchie!
6 Francesca - that would be moi - gets my vote!
7 Franny, it says that this is the ballot box - I'll just slip mine in.
8 You're right, Sharkey, but why is it making such a funny noise?
9 If I whisper who I voted for, will you tell me your vote?
10 I feel so proud to have voted today. May the best animal win!
11 Now, all I need to do is fill in the square that says 'Vivaldi the cat.'
12 I'll teach those Frenchies to be smug. I've rigged the election so that I win by a landslide - I'm the new First Selectpet and now all I have to do is relax!!!
And even made our debut on CNBC!
1 Sharkey and I were bathed and dressed chicly for our guest appearance with Martha on CNBC's Power Lunch. Here we are on our way to be interviewed.
2 From a distance, we thought we had seen a turkey, but when we got closer, we realized it was the colorful peacock logo of NBC.
3 Hurry up, Sharkey - we don't want to be late for our call time.
4 Wow, this lobby is very impressive - I just love the sapphire-blue flooring.
5 Oh great! It' Mary Curran, Martha's hair and makeup artist. We love her!
6 Here I am with Karima Greene - she was our producer for the segment
7 Mary? Mary? Where are you? I need a touch-up!!
8 You know, sometimes I work the controls at Martha's TV show - can you give me a tour of your control room?
9 Sharkey, you go ahead - I'll just stay here for a few minutes.
10 When we finally got on set, Bill Griffeth - co-host of Power Lunch - came over to greet us. I don't think they have too many dogs visit their show.
11 Smile Sharkey - we're on air! Charles Koppelman - chairman of MSLO and Martha, being interviewed by Michelle Caruso-Cabrera - Power Lunch co-anchor
12 There we are live on TV - Oops - I guess we weren't facing the right camera.
13 It looks like it's a great time to be a pet - 81% of pet-owners will increase pet care spending!
14 Everyone at Power Lunch was so surprise at how well-behaved we were. They just didn't realize how experienced we are!
15 Sharkey, I hope you don't feel left out.
16 Can you believe there was actually a bet that we, Frenchies, wouldn't sit still? Here is Dennis Kneale - Power Lunch co-anchor - who lost that wager to Uncle Charles.
