The First Snow

Posted by Sharkey

Last Saturday night, we had our very first snowfall of the season.  It wasn't very much snow, but it was quite pretty.  A thin blanket covered the farm and Francesca and I headed out for a little winter adventure.  We'll be sure to show you more snow pictures the next time it falls.

Ahhh, the first snow fall of the season! I'll just limber up before heading out.

Francesca, look how pretty the stone patio looks!

The bird feeders have many visitors.

If only I could jump that high!

Sharkey, snow is very cold but very magical.

Let's go see how the donkeys are faring in the snow.

Look how small our paw prints are compared to Shaun's.

It looks like the guys are burlapping the boxwoods for the winter.

Fine Francesca, I'll go by myself to say 'hi' to the donkeys.

I think I see Rufus through the ice.

Francesca never seems as interested in the donkeys - she's already on her way home.

Rufus, how are you enjoying the snow? Is it cold on your hooves?

Do you donkeys huddle like that for warmth or do you just love each other?

Billie, are those two boys, Rufus and Clive, treating you well? We girls should stick together.

HEY! I thought we girls would stick together, what gives? Why are you always so haughty?

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Ah yes, snow on the ground. I just love the snow but we don’t get very much around here; just a small sampling form time to time. When we go to the mountains, I find snow on the ground sometimes. Daddy doesn’t like to drive in the snow in the mountains; guess pulling the fifth wheel isn’t the easiest thing to do in the world. I’m still looking for that “donkey” next door; haven’t seen any yet. Now for a good walk, breakfast and a nap. That should get the day moving along.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good Morning Ladies,
The first snow is always so special, and you two certainly look like little snow bunnies. Sharkey, your coat is very festive, and Mama Martha's new camera sure does take good photos. My mom got a new camera for her birthday in September and we have all been the stars of the camera's new photos. Get a fire going and keep warm. It is snowing here now. Mom wants to get some photos of us in the snow, but I am never out long enough. Keep warm
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • yep we also got our first good snow, it's still dropping at this time, we are suppose to get a good deal...but then what do the weathermen know! I'll be curled up inside and watch mommie delia finish adding 250 horse ornaments on the tree, she'll be adding all of her other kind also to make it a real full tree...and I'm going to be a typical 'Kitty' cat and bat a couple of ornaments around...meeeuw it's fun!
the photos of Billie, Rufus and Clive are adorable love seeing you two pups romping in the snow, although Francesca "flaked out" and ran home.

  • Wowee! Beautiful snow! Sharkey, there's a reason why it's not a good idea to get too close to the donkeys. I don't think Martha has illuminated you to the fact that if you get too close to them, you'll likely get kicked in the you know where. OK, I guess I should paint a clearer picture...as the saying goes, if you stray too close, you'll get kicked in the ass by an ass. At that point, you'll have to sit in a tub of ice all day, with Vivaldi laughing nearby. Need I say more?
    Bye.

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: I sure would like to have some snow where I live, but it never snows. Well, once in a few years it snowed just a little. Momma scraped the ground for enough to make a small snowball and then she threw it at me. It was funny! Momma said that many years ago it snowed so much that she and dad, Tater and Littleman and Littleboy were stuck in the house for 4 days. The power never was out, thank goodness. Grandma Tater dog could go out and play in the snow but mom and dad couldn't go anywhere and it was Christmas Eve. Well, after hearing that story I'm kinda glad it doesn't snow here very often.

I think I'll go have me a nap. It is cold and windy here today. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • You two are so funny with such different personalities. Francesca would rather be a producer's assistant while you would rather hang out with the donkeys. BTW, it's really nice to finally see more of Rufus, Clive and Billie a bit more. For once they weren't running away from you Sharkey. Well until Billie decided that was enough for now! : smile:

  • Bpppupmrrrow. We's had our verwy first snowfalls, too, ova de weekend. Since dis is my first year dat mommie's taken me out in my wittle harness (you's should see what a good girl I is in it!), I've actualwy never had my pwecious paws in de snow. Mommie DID take me out on de patio on Caturday, 'n a coupla snowfwakes bwew in under de woof 'n fell on my wittle spotted head, but dat was de 'ztent of it. I would t'ink dat dat white 'tuff'd be mrrrowy cold on my pwecious paws, pwus evwybunnie knows dat we kc's doesn't wike to git our wittle tootsietoes all wet - oh, mrrrow no!

Mommie wanted me to tell you, Sharkeybarkey, dat she t'ought you was awful coot in your 'downward dog' position...she wikes it when I does dat (even d'ough I IS a kittiekittie...) She wikes to see me stwetch fwontwards 'n backwards - she t'inks it is bootiful.

Well, girls...dey're sayin' anuva 'torm is comin', but hopefulwy it'll turn ta wain by mornin', wikes dey're sayin'...

Your bootiful and bootifulwy-spotted Mandy girl,

    =^..^=

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: Looks so beautiful where you are, magical for sure. Here in Florida, it is also a bit chilly so we staying inside a lot more. We are preparing for the Holidays - and are hoping that the boss doesn't try to dress us up like reindeer and take pictures- we are not really into that. Bye for now, we will check in again soon. Say Hi to Martha for us.
Love to all, Lady, Francine and Teresa

  • Hi Gals,
I was born in snow country but now I am a sunny CA chow chow. I like staying indoors now that I am a senior chow kind of gal!
Franny, I love pix #7 of you heading on down the road so precious.
Sharkey pix #1 is so sweet you look so happy.
Watched your Mama on television today trying to help dogs and cats get adopted, she is #1 in my book of heroes. My Mama likes her too I might add!

Enjoy your adventures and keep them coming.

    Until next time,
    Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow

  • Hi Girl Friends, Boy, you sure must have had some cold weather to get that much beautiful snow. We have had some really cold weather and could get some snow this coming weekend. It has been so cold here-in the 20's&30's-that I only go out side to do my business and then spend more time indoors. My Mom bought some nice apple wood and I spend lots of time in front of our wonderful woodstove. Oh, how I love that heat! Stay warm. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxo
