Searching for the perfect Xmas tree

Posted by Francesca

Sharkey and I went on an outing the other day in search of the perfect Christmas tree.  We were looking for a live tree because we enjoy the fragrance so much.  This year, Martha only put up tinsel trees and feather trees in the house.  When searching for a tree, it's important to choose one that's not too big and not too small.  Come and see what we found!

Oh boy, Sharkey! Let's go look at all of these Christmas trees! Maybe we'll find just the right one. Don't you just love that pine aroma?

Look at this gigantic wreath! I think I'll jump through.

Well, hello there, Caroling dog! My, you're all decked out for the season.

I agree, Sharkey - this little girl even looks angelic.

Oh dear - something's terribly wrong with this fountain! It's kind of frozen.

Franny, I think that Martha would love this giant kugel. Did you bring lots of money?

This fire smells so smokey and good, but I know to stay back.

I've never seen snowmen that look like this - only their faces are round.

This snowman is more like it. Do you think if we sit here for awhile, he will come to life?

OK, Mr. Gnome - I'll grant your request - but just one photo!

Oh, brother.....

My feeling is that this size tree is just too small, and besides, it doesn't smell.

But this size seems just right and oh, so fragrant!

Franny, don't say a word, but I heard that Santa has some wonderful surprises for us this year.

  • Good Morning F & S

You picked out a beautiful tree. I usually go with mom and dad to pick out our tree but this year it was raining really hard so I stayed home. Dad wanted to wait but mom wanted to get it home so she could decorate it, they did a good job even without me. I love to lay under the tree on the pretty tree blanket, I feel like I'm in the woods. That sugar water mom puts in the stand isn't so bad either.

I am so excited Christmas is almost here. I saw mom wrapping a few gifts with my name on the tag I can't wait to see what I get :)

    Well my breakfast is waiting....

  • Hello Ladies,
It looks like you ladies picked out a beautiful tree. Will it adorn your room? You both look soooo marvelous in your holiday coats. As for me I am resting this morning while Mom is out getting turkeys etc.Lots of guests coming Christmas Eve. Tasha and I love that and also our presents we can smell. Have a great almost Christmas Eve day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: I just would like to wish all those who write on this blog a very Merry Christmas. To Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow, Zoe, Basil, Kirby Bear, Delia, Cindy, Mandy and I didn't want to forget little Edgar who lives in heaven now. Gosh, I hope I didn't forget anyone. Sorry if I did, cause I love you guys the most. Anyway, I hope you get all that you wanted for Christmas and plenty of good food to eat and tons of love in your homes.

Don't know if I can get momma to write for me tomorrow (Christmas Eve) cause she has time off from work and will be preparing our home for the Christmas day meal. We're going to have roasted turkey breast, stuffing, real cranbetty sauce (not the canned stuff)and veggies and an apple pie for dessert.

I, of course, will have already opened my presents and will be sleeping and then when I wake I'll go to the kitchen and help momma fix stuff. Daddy will be watching TV in his recliner and staying out of the kitchen.

Well, it's time for a short nap. Take care. See ya tomorrow if I can. Merry Christmas. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
When it comes to trees, one could say that I am an x-spurt. It’s too bad that I don’t live closer to you two; I would have been happy to help you pick one out. I think you made a good choice just by the looks of it. I’ll take your word that it smells wonderful. Mommy is at the store right now and I just helped daddy wrap her present from us. Hope she likes it; on the other hand I know she will like anything daddy and I give her. Best of all, she likes the love I share with her and that’s kind of hard sometimes; Chows are not know to be lovers who like to be hugged. Although it does feel kind of good at times.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • These are, in my humble opinion, the best pictures of you to date!

It's been fun reading your blog all year and to all of my fellow bloggers here have a wonderful Christmas and much happines in the new year.

  • Love the fresh Tree shopping with you two pups!

I'm late today cause mommie delia was up early cooking some things ahead for Xmas eve...she is making our customary German dinner with a touch of Puerto Rican, daddie Al is Latin...meeuw!

We will have (Roast)Sauerbraten(as a cat I am in heaven that I will be eating this for several days..brreeuw!), Bavarian Kartoffelöße( potato dumplings) Rotkol( red cabbage), Puerto Rican Pinto Beans and of course some American food...

We are expecting a mighty big winter snow and ice storm, the very thing that happened last year, so mommie delia is all stressed out cause her guest are coming from afar...we will pray for better weather.

Although there are quit a few blogs on MSLO it is too hard and time consuming to read each one and keep up with all the MS stuff, so mommie delia decided this F&S blog was the one we would read daily and participate in...I think that it's grand that there are loyal regulars coming to this particular blog, very addictive indeed...Delia and I "Kitty" would like to extend our Warmest Wishes for this Season to Pam, Basil, Kirby, Zoe, Gracyn, Cindy and Trish...these are just a few that I can think of as being loyal to this blog....May all good things continue to come to Martha Steward and her crew and all the animals that live with her, especially Francesca and Sharkey...
Dr. Pia Happy Holidays to you also!
Joy, Peace, Happiness and Good Health in the New Year to all!

  • You two are so pretty and festive in your little red coats! This little outing looked like a lot of fun - a brisk-looking day and beautiful blue skies, with good-smelling aromas wafting thru the air... I hope you were able to find the p-e-r-f-e-c-t little tree for the both of you.

I'll be checkin' in with you tomorrow - you know, before the BIG day is here (and Santa Paws arrives!)

    Be good girls, okay?!

    =^..^=

  • Awww, thank you, Gracyn, for your warmest Christmas wishes - I just read everyone's posts after I posted my own. I will tell my Mandy girl you mentioned her, and from the depths of my heart, thank you for remembering my little Edgar!

Have lots-n-lots of fun helping your momma tonight/tomorrow with all the food preparations...be a good helper for her and keep the floor and any crumbs cleaned up, okay... She'll appreciate your company, I'm sure!

BIGGG Christmas hug, Gracyn...lots of love, honey,

    =^..^=

  • Hey gals,
Looks cold out, you need some doggie rum to keep warm!
I hope you found a Christmas tree to your liking, and I hope Santa is good to you and leaves you lots of goodies under the trees. (your Mama said you have lots of trees in house)
Take care and don't get into any trouble over the holidays.
    Have fun love bugs.
    Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow
Happy Woof Wednesday to you, I miss you on Twitter.

  • Hi Girl Friends, What a great time it looks like you had finding a Christmas tree. What tree did you two finally choose and where did you put it to decorate it?! I'll bet it looked beautiful!!! Do you still have some snow up there on the Bedford farm? We don't have any here even though it is cold enough. Well, I sure hope you two and all of your friends have a wonderful Christmas and I hope your new little brother is there enjoying it with you!!! Love, Dudley Do Right & Jan xoxoxo
