Playing in the leaves

Posted by Francesca

Who doesn't love playing in a big pile of dry and fluffy leaves?  It's so much fun and I feel sorry for dogs who live where no leaves fall.  Sharkey and I discovered some really big piles the other day and jumped right in.  One thing's for sure - while playing, it's really important to pay attention to what's going on around you.

Look Sharkey - it's one of those things they call a leaf blower. That can only mean one thing at this time of year - fluffy, dry leaves!

See? What did I tell you? Let's go leaf diving!

Sharkey, if you're trying to hide, you need to do a much better than that - you're sticking out like one big Q-tip!

Not good enough - I can still see you Sharkey!

What's up, Sharkey? Is everything OK? Why do you look so concerned?

Good thing we were so gallantly rescued. We might have been sucked right up with all those leaves!

  • Good Morning F & S

Happy Friday :) I love to play in the leaves it's so much fun. The leaves at our house have all been removed. Mom happy I get all dirty and need a bath after a romp in the leaves.

I have to tell you last night I thought a bomb was dropped on our house. About 2 am the thunder came and scared the s#*@ out of me. I jumped up on mom all the dogs started barking then the rains came - it was scary!! Mom couldn't fall back asleep so we watched Nightline, she recorded it. Your mom was great but I was sorry there weren't more pictures of the two of you. You should have Nightline come back and do a day in the life of F & S.

My mom is tired this morning I was snoring really bad all night and she's been up since 2. I had to snuggle really close I was so scared and needed my mom. Dad got all pissy and went in the other room, mumbled something about the damn dogs, glad he left we had the entire bed to ourselves.

This weekend we'll be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. I love the holidays, lots of people over and kids who drop food on the floor - lots of snacks for me :)

Well have a nice weekend everyone.

    Zoe

  • Hello Ladies,
That jumping in leaves looks great fun. I love to root in the leaves. You are lucky that you were not sucked into that scary machine. Are you girls helping your Mama get ready for Thanksgiving this weekend? I heard her say on her show that you were going to Aunt Alexis's new place. All the cooking and things dropping on the floor are so much fun on the holidays. I am pretty tired today--must get to morning nap time. Have a great weekend everyone!!!
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Oh now your talking!...meeuw...I love jumping into a bed of fresh felled leaves...I go looking for chipmunks buried in the pile looking for acorns...and then mommie delia comes along and shooos me out cause she doesn't want me to play with the chippies and hurt them....meeuw!

Mommie said, when she saw the photos of you Francesca and Sharkey playing and laying in the leaves, it brought back some 'good memories' during the war...a memory that is always revisited(like a flashback)when leaves are on the ground in the fall, the smell, the sound of them rustling and crushing under your feet...it actually was something good we did for fun, rolling in the leaves and enjoying the sun, all simple pleasures during war time...then we'd pick berries in the forest while walking across Tanker tracks that had been blown off....sorry, am just having a flashback session here.
You two pups certainly have a wonderful life with your mommie Martha, she is Blessed in this Country of Freedom...have a great weekend everyone!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: That's a lot of leaves to have fun in. I love to jump in the piles of leaves that mom and dad rake up each year. Just run really fast and then plop! The leaves go everywhere and then mom has to rake them up again. She doesn't get upset. She just laughs and knows that I have lots of fun.

It's cloudy and cold here today and I think I will wait for dad to come home and then both of us can have a winter's nap. See ya later and have a great weekend. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Oh WOW, leaves to play in. When mommy and daddy rake the leaves, I like to run through the piles and mess them up. It’s my way of playing a joke on them. Mommy always says that I am a prankster anyway so I have a lot to live up to. Well it’s Friday and I see in the paper that we have lost a friend; Uga VII died of a heart attack on Thursday. He was the mascot for the University of Georgia football team. He will be missed by all. Have a good weekend.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Sharkey, I'm glad you saw the leaf vacuum before you were sucked into it! I don't want to see you end up as a pile of mashed potatoes, ever! Bye!

  • Hello Friends,

You two are so blessed to be able to play in all those leaves! I am very envious as I live in California where I don't get to experience such fun. There is a park Mom takes me to and there are a few leaves there for me to play in. I tell you, Francesca and Sharkey, I think I'm going to fly over to your place for Thanksgiving dinner and help you pups play in the leaves.

Please tell Martha my Mom agrees with her-Martha is far superior to Rachel Ray,as well as to every other food channel host. Martha is the best and no one else even comes close!

    XO,
    Fisher Jimmy

  • I was having a "ruff" day so who else do I turn to but you two for a happy pick me up. Thanks always.

Thank you Kirby Bear for the mention of Uga VII. I sent out a R.I.P. tweet to a very sweet looking doggie. Everyone have a happy, healthy safe weekend.

  • Hi Girl Friends, How in the world do you ever get such large piles of leaves that are all dry and fluffy?! Here, where I live, all of the leaves are wet and soggy and no fun to play in. It has rained almost steady for over 2 weeks and Mom just rakes up the leaves and puts them in her compost bin. Today the sun came out for a while and Mom and I went for a long walk. It was cold because the wind was blowing about 40 MPH but we had fun anyway. Mom did a comment about Dr. Pia's little dog, MS. Pepper but for some reason it didn't show up. We both thought she was beautiful. Take care of Martha with that sore throat. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxoxoxo

  • My mom & I really like the coats your wearing in the picture with the leaf blower, can you tell me where you got them as my mom would like to get me one for the winter. They seem to fit you well, and I being a french bulldog myself am not having an easy time finding a nice winter coat to keep me warm. Thanks...

  • The Daliy Wag is adorable! I have a fourteen week frenchie grand-dogger named Chloe. Can you let me know where I can find those darling blanket/sweaters?
