Maine in autumn
Posted by Sharkey
Silly me! I just found these photos taken in early October, during the last time we went to Maine with Martha and her guests. I must have misplaced the memory card. We Frenchies take so many photos for our blog and I guess, once in a while, things can slip through a crack. 'Tsk-tsk,' as Martha would say, but I say, better late than never.
1 Oh goody! The sun came out. The beach is always nicer when the sun is shining.
2 There's always a ton of seaweed on the beaches in Maine and Francesca loves sniffing it. It's very salty and kind of fishy smelling.
3 As you can see, the sea mist rolled in. Franny's still busy sniffing and Martha is all bundled up. It can quickly get very cold and damp on these shores.
4 Wow! Is that a dinosaur egg? Oh, I see - it's a rather large stone. They get so smooth tumbling in the rocky surf.
5 Time to leave the beach and explore the higher ground.
6 Here we are at a higher elevation. Those red scrubby bushes are wild Maine blueberry with their autumn foiliage. They seem to grow everywhere - even on these granite rocks!
7 Here I am with Kevin Sharkey. I think it's funny that we have the same name. Such a coincidence!
