Filming the new Japanese maple grove

Posted by Sharkey

Whenever there's something important going on at the farm, you can be sure that we, Frenchies, will be right in the thick of things.  Everyone was talking about Japanese maples and a new maple grove, so we went to check it out.  Wouldn't you know it!  We found all the action down in the shade garden alongside Maple Avenue!  Clever, Martha.

Here is a very good book called Japanese Maples. Shaun must be using it as a guide.

Hey, Saeoh, bring that scrim over here. We need to diffuse some light.

Do you think Gary Nardilla will be upset that Franny walked all over his brand new scrim?

  • F & S - Good Morning
Planting the maple trees looked really fun especially rolling in the dirt and chewing on a branch. The additions to your new shade garden look really nice.

I see you have your sweaters on, must be getting chilly up in your neck of the woods. I'm sure my mom will be unpacking my sweaters and winter jackets soon. I know I've started snuggling in closer to mom at night. She likes to leave the windows open to get fresh air - well excuse me I'm freezing my butt off. Then she complains how much I snore and how much heat I throw off - she said I'm like a heating pad that snores oh and with occasional gas :) Hello!! Close the windows for God's sake or get me a pair of nice thermal pajamas.

F & S do you wear PJ's? Might be something you want to add to your clothing line.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
With all those trees being planted, I didn’t see you digging one hole for them. I can’t blame you for not because I don’t like to dig either. I tried it one time, and mama was so upset with me that I learned that lesson really quick; don’t dig in the yard. I love your sweaters, pocket and all. I don’t have anything like that because of all my hair and I do love the cold weather. It’s walk time.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Girls - cute coats!!

  • ahhh those Marvelous Maples! I love those wonderful colorful trees...we had a beautiful Lacey Maple, but it died...so sad.

You two pups look so sweet in those classy sweaters...great colors!
and it looks like Francesca and Sharkey have everything under control...just like Frenchie's should.

  • Good morning Francesca and Sharkey: What a great treat, helping to plant trees in the garden. It would be fun to help to dig nice deep holes and play in the dirt. Momma would get all aggravated at me if I dug in our yard, but she would love me all the same. Daddy would say, "Oh, Gracyn is just being Gracyn."

Well, my mom and dad got back from their trip to Duke Hosp. Daddy had a heart transplant 7 years ago and has regular checkups at Duke twice a year. I was at the Lynaire Deluxe Boarding Kennel and they really spoiled me. I had a sudsy bath and got my nails done and I had a nice big quiet room to lounge around in. They also took me for nature walks and playtime and gave me great food, water and snacks. The best part of all was to see momma and daddy there to pick me up and take me home. I slept all that afternoon. So exhausted, you know.

Franny, I'm glad you are feeling better. It's good to see your pictures again. Take care and see ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello Ladies,
First, I must tell you both how beauuuutiful you look in those gorgeous hand knit sweaters. I think I remember those sweaters from the shoot last year at the yarn factory--Lions and Tigers or somethings like that. Well, on to the important things----the sticks. I love sticks also. I love them so much I try and bring them in the doggie door to keep me company in the house. It looks like everyone but Uncle Carlos was in the shoot on the maple trees. Won't those be nice and shady when they get big. Mama Martha sure does have the best taste. Have a great Thursday all.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello all,
It's me, Basil, here again. Can anyone out there help me as Mom is driving me nuts? She read my comment on the girls' hand knit sweaters and has been trying to track down the pattern to no luck. I can't take my morning nap and get off the computer until we find that sweater pattern. Do any of you remember where it was? Thanks for the help.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Girls! Your sweaters are really sharp-looking! Are they Halston or Stella McCartney? Let me know, ok?

  • Francesca, Raja the Shih Tzu here...I want you to know I'm a really big fan of yours. I love your sweater and think you look grand in the maple grove playing with Sharkey. I also am into sweaters, fall outings, photography and trees.

    Your pal, Raja

  • Author Comment:

For Basil and anyone else interested in our hand knit sweaters - if you go to http://www.lionbrand.com and click search for dog sweaters, you'll find the pattern right there. Have fun knitting!

  • Hello girls, what a fun day the two of you had. I especially liked the photos of the two of you behind the camera. Francesca I'm really happy to see you up and about. You really gave a scare last week. No more spider eating OK? Glitter!Sharkey! Tu est tres jolie!

Something about these photos just screams a very special Martha Stewart Pet Fashion Catalog. I can see it now, the two of you modeling the latest fall collection of sweaters, raincoats, accessories, etc. The farm would make the perfect location for the shoot. Run this by Martha, see what she thinks. See you two later.

  • I love the meet the breed section of your site, but how come there are not any AKC Brussels Griffons listed? I have 3 and was disappointed that I could not read about them on this site. They are a great breed.
    Thanks

  • Hi Girl Friends, Oh, I love your blog today! I sure wish I could be there with you. If there is anything I love to do, its wander around in a new area and smell everything around there. Then I love to roll around on the ground and kick my feet up to really enjoy myself. You two are so lucky to get to do so many cool things. I got to help my uncle cut down a 30 foot tree between our house and the garage today and that was a lot of fun, too. Well, what's up for tommorrow?! Love, Dudley Do Right xoxo
