A Halloween shoot at our house

Posted by Francesca

Last May, a whole bunch of people from the magazine came to photograph Martha, all decked out in her Halloween garb, down at the stables.  Sharkey and I, of course, were there to offer our assistance.  I really got into the experience, but Sharkey, not so much so.  She claims she didn't fit in.  Oh well.

Francesca, why are you standing on your hind legs?

I want to get a better look. Aren't you excited by all of this Halloween action?

I mean, see how great Rutger looks in his Halloween get-up!

I will stand in as the photographer's assistant. I'll hand him everything he needs from these cases.

The theme of this photo shoot seems to be all about black - a white Frenchie, like me, doesn't really fit in.

Hey Sharkey! How come you're not helping with the shoot?

It's OK Franny, I'm going to sit this one out. You go and have fun.

Well then, ta-ta Sharkey and back to work for me.

I love what they did with Rutger's mane. I wonder if French bulldogs can grow hair this long? I think I could use a new do.

Francesca is so busy inside being a photo assistant and I'm feeling kind of cold sitting out here in the shade.

Ahhhhh! This is so much better. I love being a basking hound.

Oh, what's that Martha? You need moi?

I think we look great together, but I wish MY eyes looked as menacing as Martha's.

You know, I just LOVE all the attention!

Your mama looks REALLY scary. Sharkey I'm with you I'd rather go lay in the sun than work on a photo shoot. However, if there is food or kids around count me in :) I haven't decided what I'm dressing as this year I think we are working on that this weekend.

We had a house guest this past weekend. I was so excited to see Michelle that I peed on her, just a little. I should have peed more because Precious my chocolate Lab sister is her favorite, she tells her all the time. Anyway, I still like when she visits.

    Have a nice day.

  • uuuuhweee Martha looked peerdy spoooky! and you two pups are just cooling it...what a life! love the horsey's mane, that took a great deal of time.

can't say I'm fond of Holloween...there are even some people that do stupid and bad things to cats, so I try to stay inside...but do love to see the kids all dressed up in their costumes.

  • Francesca, when I saw the last photo of Martha I thought at first it was Cyndi Lauper on her way to a funeral! Gotta go...later.

  • Hello Ladies,
Oh what fun that Halloween shoot must have been. Girls, all the attention and treats. I can see how you must have felt left out Sharkey, with everything being black, but ghosts are white and they are spooky too. Anyway, I saw your All That Glitters on Martha's website and you look beauuuuuuutiful Sharkey. Hope you all had a good weekend. I, celebrated my 8th birthday with Mom while Dad was fishing. He caught some big Rainbow Trout and said I could have a little in honor of turning 8 and that he and Tasha weren't here to help celebrate on the actual day. Have a great Monday everyone.
    Love & licks,

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’m with you Sharkey on the part about being the “basking hound.” I love to lay in the sun and warm myself while sleeping. Now as for Halloween, I can take it or leave it. I don’t like to be dressed up at all. I hope mama doesn’t see what they did with Rutger's mane, my hair is long enough she just may try to do some of mine that way. Now I would just look silly and nothing like Rutger. Daddy usually dresses as Snoopy and hands out candy to the boys and girls. He won’t this year as he will not be home on that day.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Franny!

Heard you ate a spider! Did it sit down beside you? I'm so glad you're alright! I love your Moms costume for Halloween. She looks beautiful...even with a scary scar! Looking forward to all the treats, how 'bout you? Tell Sharkey hi!

  • Franny & Sharkey you gotta protect your Mama from the ghosts and spooky beings that are hanging out around the farm. A Chow Chow would be right there to protect your Mama no matter how scary she may look in her Halloween attire!!! Boooooo! She does look creepy doesn't she?

What a fun photo shoot would have loved to have been there to watch ,you gals are so lucky. BOOOOOOO! Did I scare you?

Time for my daily nap need to energize my body LOL!
    Happy day gals.

  • Hi Sweeties,
Maybe Sharkey sat this one out in case someone wanted her to be Moth Dog again! She didn't look too happy in that photo in the Halloween Special issue but you both looked adorable anyway. Thanks for sharing these pictures Franny; I just loved mommy Martha's Ghostly Equestrienne costume and of course Rutger looked very handsome. Thanks girls!

  • Hi Girl Friends, You sure did an interesting blog today. If you hadn't told us, I would never have recognized Martha. Her costume and makeup was really cool. What are you two going to wear this Halloween? I'll bet you both look really great. I don't go out for Halloween because I really don't like to go out at night. After spending the first 11 months of my life outside day and night with my kitty friend, I really don't care to be outside except if I'm going for a walk with my Mom or going somewhere in her truck. Hope you have a great week. Love Dudley Do Right xoxoxo

  • Dear Frenchie Friends,

I love that you are getting into the Halloween action. Unfortunatly, I am having a problem doing that myself. I am recovering from surgury and have to wear a dreadful cone until November. Do you have any costume ideas for me that will utilize the cone? I want to dress up so badly, but I fear I won't get to this year. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey, We just had my Halloween Photo Shoot here at home. I really want to enter my Lion King Costume in your photo contest. Are you having it again this year?

I'm not concerned with winning- I just want to participate!

    Your pal, Raja
