A store for just us dogs!

Posted by Francesca

Uncle Carlos was driving through Mt. Kisco, New York recently, when he noticed a store called Just Dogs Gourmet. A sign in the window said that dogs are welcome so, the other day, we went on a little field trip. The store is bright and cheerful and is filled with really great things - wonderful toys, dog supplies, and of course, delicious and nutritious doggy treats. We also enjoyed meeting the owners, Adam and Emily Gilman. They explained that Just Dogs Gourmet is a franchise, which means that maybe there's a store, like this one, nearby where you live!

Sharkey, these treats are decorated with yogurt and carob, a chocolate substitute. That sounds delicious!

Oh look - they even carry Bark Vineyards! It's not really wine, but delicious gravy to pour over meals.

They sell a lot of Planet Dog products made from non-toxic and recyclable materials. With every sale, Dog Planet donates to service dog programs around the country.

If they have a Frenchie sticker, we're getting one for Martha to put on the Kawasaki.

It was great seeing both of you yesterday on the premier of Martha. Mom and I watched it together after dinner last night. I just loved the new gold harnesses. We enjoyed the tour of your house in Maine, what a magnificant place. I think I'd still prefer the farm in Bedford for our play date. I'd love to chase those donkey's around :)

Your visit to Just for Dogs reminds me of a place that my mom takes me to it's called Jakes Dog House. Same concept and they do grooming also, that's where we all go. I love going there with mom I always come home with a treat. Were you able to find a mug with a Frenchie on it? They are difficult to come by, so are the bumper stickers. My mom goes to a frenchie website they have everything. She is still searching for a French Bulldog headcover for her golf club. She has the Lab's, one of each color, but is still looking for a black frenchie.

I have a suggestion for a show, Blogger Buddies - we could all come. Why don't you run that one by Martha at your next production meeting.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Now that’s my kind of store; lots and lots of food. It looks as if you had quite a time visiting there. Yesterday was a perfect day. Martha’s show started it’s new season, it wasn’t too hot outside, not too many squirrels visited the bird feeders, I went for a long walk, the ice cream man came by on the street, and I had great nap times. Yep, I saw you two on the show. You looked really great with your new gold collars. Mama doesn’t give me very much ice cream; just a couple spoons full. I can hear that song, from the truck, playing two blocks away and am sure to let mommy and daddy know he’s coming. Yes, it was a perfect day.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Great blog today, girls. Found myself chuckling several times. Will look for this store near me! Signed, Jennifer the Beagle's Mom

  • how cool,Just Dogs Gourmet store! it's amazing how many of these type of stores have opened...a friend of mommie delia's opened a doggie bakery...I think it's unfair to us Gato's(cats) that there aren't any stores named Just for Cat's Gourmet...hmmm, now there is an idea! ok maybe there are some, but not here...love the photos and the things you where checking out, "Color Paw"??? shee shee froo froo!!
Kitty and mommie delia are going to rake up Hickory and acorns nuts...a bumper crop this year for the squirrles and chippies.
have a great day Francesca and Sharkey, oh and Carlos too!!!!

  • Good morning Francesca and Sharkey: What a great place to spend the better part of a day. Toys, food, treats and more, yeaaaaaaaa! I bet mom and dad would spend a lot of money there for my stuff. We have PetSmart here and that place is fun too, but it is also open to cats, ferrets and birds. How fun to go to a store just for us pups. Wow! I must tell momma about this place.

I hope Uncle Carlos bought you two some really great and fun stuff. I like that dog that didn't move. It's probably a toy and I could drag it around the house and shake, shake, shake it whenever I wanted to. HAHAHAHAHA.

Well, it's time to have a sun bath. I still watch out for the uninvited guest by the name of Arthur Itis for my mom. Her back is getting much better. Must be my deligence at the door, guarding it as I do. It is rather cool out today. My mom said it may get as high as 82. Don't know what that means, but okay it's cool. Take care everyone and have a fun day. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello Ladies,
That store sounds like great fun. I hope you and Uncle Carlos were able to get some Christmas shopping done for Mama Martha. Those treats in the cases look very similar to the ones my mom makes and donates the money to no kill animal shelters. Her's don't have frosting, like you spoke of from yogurt and carob. My favorite is the pumpkin. Mom and I are so jealous of all of you that get to watch The Martha Show. You would think Colorado would be a big enough state to have it on the air. It isn't even on at 3 in the morning to tape any more. Is there any way to watch it in full on the website? I wish I could have seen you both with those new gold collars. I loved your photo shots in the Halloween magazine as spider and moth. You continue to be so photogenic. Take care and Happy Tuesday.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello Friends,

That sure looks like a fun store! I love to shop, just like you two. I hope they have a Just Dogs Gourmet store near me in Los Angeles.

Did Uncle Carlos buy you two lots of goodies? The treats looked scrumptious and the nail polish colors were divine.

I think I'll ask Mom to take me walking at the mall this afternoon. Maybe I can get a jump start on my holiday shopping. If Mom isn't available to go walking, do you think I can borrow Uncle Carlos just for the day?

    XO,
    Fisher Jimmy

  • dear francesca, It was a pleasure to meet you in person at martha's farm today. I was on the tour with the Native Plant Center. We had a fantastic time and I would like to thank you all for having us and most of all for having a natural lawn that is
safe for you to run around on!!! I wish that more of us humans understood that
pesticides are bad for all of us! Hope to see you around Kisco! your fan, Megan

  • Hi Girl Friends, Now that looks like a neat store for any of us dogs to enjoy looking around and smelling all of the great things they have for sale. I would love to have some of those treats and toys. I have never seen that store where we live, but maybe there is one somewhere in Seattle or Bellevue. You are so lucky to have Uncle Carlos take to so many fun places. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxoxo

  • Just for dogs in Mount Kisco is one of my dogs favorite stores. We found lots of yummy treats and got a cool bumper magnet that says "recycle- adopt a shelter pet."
