We want bicycles!

Posted by Sharkey

Franny and I have been doing a little thinking about objects on wheels.  We have already mastered driving golf carts and Kawasaki vehicles and now we have a keen interest in bicycles.  The problem is, they are so big and our feet don't reach the peddles.  If anyone can make it happen, it's Martha!  Two Frenchie-sized bicycles and two helmets - no problem.  Then maybe some spiffy new and colorful cycling outfits!

They wanted a water break and we decided, as usual, to say 'hello.' You know how friendly we always are.

Bikes??? How about a basket on the front of someone elses bike where the two of you could sit and enjoy the ride. In my neighborhood I see people with their kids on the back in one of those car seats for a bike but who would want to look at someone's back? You should have your mom design a basket that will attach to the front of the bike with a special seat belt to keep you secure. She'll have to design cute little helmets as well, we want to be safe. I'd jump out so I'd need a seat belt.

Maybe my mom would start riding her bike again if she could take me along.

Yo Martha - get started on that project.

  • I love your friendliness...such sweet pups!

  • Hey Frannie and Sharkey,
Bicycles are AWESOME!!! My owner has a beautiful light blue Trek bike and she rides for 30-40 miles sometimes. She really loves it and would love to bring me for a ride sometime. I think the basket on the front of the bike would be a great idea. Definitely need your helmets, plus a platipus water bag with your own little backpacks to keep you girls hydrated. There are some great rides where you puppies live, you'll love it. Make sure to stop along the way and enjoy the scenery.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Bicycles do look like a lot of fun. I hope your mommy puts down some ground rules before you start riding. One time, while in Pigeon Forge, TN, I was walking with my daddy in the park. We saw two boys riding on bicycles and trying to run over some of the ducks there. My daddy wasn’t too pleased with them, and was even more displeased when they tried to run over me. My daddy had some words with their daddy. He said, “They are just boys trying to have fun on vacation.” My daddy told him frankly, “Riding on a roller coaster is fun but trying to injure animals is criminal.” Daddy told him to, “Take his two criminals and go someplace else to ride.” Now don’t you two try to run over any ducks; just kidding.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • You girls are out and about, making friends, living life large! I think, perhaps, today you snagged two sweet gentlemen boyfriends. Way to go! All that fresh air and exercise...You are an inspiration.

  • Dear Francesca and Sharkey,

I think you both will look smashing in "spandex".....
Who's that bike fellow, Lance Armstrong? He probably has a whole bunch of bikes in his gargage....he can only ride one at a time.
He wears spandex too! LOL :0)
A "sidecar" like the Bikers have for their "chicks" might be nice. You can dress up, put on your helmets and off you go! Sunglasses perhaps?
    Basket in front so common.....

  • Hello Francesca and Sharky, we love your blog, Momma reads it to us all the time. We would love to have you come and visit our dog park with your Mom when she isn't so busy.

We are having an event on June 20th, and would love it if you could come.

    Hope you write back!

  • Hi Girl Friends, The first time I saw a bicycle I had no idea what it was. My mom explained what it was to me and I'm sure my legs aren't long enough to reach the pedals to ride one. It probably would be fun to run along beside my mom on her bike, but we would have to be careful and be in a place away from any cars or other dangerous things. I'll stick with riding in mom's truck for now. If you discover a safe way for dogs our size to ride a bike, let me know and I will be right over! Love Dudley Do Right xoxo

  • Motorcycle sidecars are REALLY fun! Check Lambchop out in Times Square! Those were the days. Maybe you can get mini versions, like a pink or powder blue scooter and sidecar. That way your paws won't get tired pedaling. I'm telling you it's the way to go!

  • Hi girls!

When you get your bikes, try attaching cards onto the spokes using Martha Stewart clothes pins! It makes a great motor-boat sound! And don't forget to ask for colorful tassels to hang from the handlebar grips!

And I'm very anxious to see what colors you will choose for your new mode of transportation. :)
