Staff meeting, Sharkey speaks out

Posted by Sharkey

Last Friday, Martha called a staff meeting for all of the workers on the property in Bedford. She had many things to discuss with them about jobs and procedures. Of course, Franny and I wanted to join in. The meeting was a big success and even I contributed to the agenda.

The sunbeams felt really good. You could say we're a couple of basking hounds.

  • Lol if you're going to go around making decrees like that, you should have a little trumpeter following you around to introduce you. Perhaps one of the cats would do the honors?

Francesca, your expression and demeanor says it all perfectly!

  • F & S
That list that Martha had looked pretty long. Francesca I'm surprised that you didn't take control of the meeting and left it to Sharkey. Did you turn your list into the staff?

Don't you just love to lay in the sun - I do. I'm not fond of those really hot days but mom keeps the water bottle handy for a nice misting on those days.

Mom tried to take pictures of me yesterday for your latest contest, I wanted no parts of it. She had me sitting in the flower bed in the water fountain by the pool - I refused and wouldn't sit. She had a Memorial Day party and there were too many kids to play with, I was busy. Oh and the best is when the little ones eat, I love to sit right next to them because they are always dropping something tasty. I think I ate too many cheese curls, my tummy is upset.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I know what you mean by the sunbeams. On cool days, I just love to lay in the sun and sleep. We don’t have “staff meetings” at my place. I guess it’s because we don’t have any “staff” to meet with. Anyway, mommy and daddy sometimes talk about what they are going to do around the house and yard. Hay, I guess we do have “staff meetings” after all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • hmmm Sharekey a bit demanding are you? but hey they you got to feel good too...seems that Francesca was cooling it, or should I say warming it in the sun...

  • Hi F & S,
Thanks to your blog, I get my best laugh for the day! You two have the funniest blog and I like to read the comments from your readers too. Keep the humor coming! Note to Delia - your cat is beautiful! Or is the cat's name Delia?

  • Oh Sharkey,

You were so busy at the meeting, you forgot to tell everyone your name is spelled wrong on your pins!
I bet Francesca is having a giggle or two and enjoying this!
That is why you always make an "outline" of your meetings, so you don't forget things. Then pass the outline to everone. IMPORTANT issues, like your name LOL !
That is OK, the pins are great, takes only a minute to add the "e".

  • note to Trish: my name is "Kitty" (aka feral kitty) mommies name is Delia and her other ID here is fan4MS, gee thanks for looking at that long URL...want to see more? here is my page
I looooove Sharkey and Francesca, mommie Delia comes here every morning before even checking her emails, me sitting on her lap, she drinking her cup of Java, then we hear the Daily Wag bark, and know it's time for news from the pups...I love it here! I also misspelled words, my paws where hitting too many keys...

  • Hi Sharkey!

You really know how to leave a guy wondering! What exactly *was* your input at the meeting?

I'm guessing that you wanted Martha to have bike trails constructed at the farm so you and my dear Bon Bon Frannie (yes, I'm still crushed) can pedal around like a bunch of circus monkeys!

Either way, I'm sure that your were well received and by the looks of it Frannie may be getting a memo...she seemed somewhat distracted from the business at hand...probably daydreaming about me, huh? :)

One can only hope. Meeting adjourned!

  • Mrrrowmrrrowmrrrow. For cats' sake, mommie missed this bwog yesterday! I'm with you Sharkeybarkey - when mommieMartha's staff members see you, they should bend down-n-pet your wittle head and be nice to you. It seems self-gwatifying, I know, but it does help to build social skills! Any treats would be mrrrowy nice, too. My mommie is juuust wike your mommie - she's organized 'n makes her wist of things to do 'n checks things wittle sister-n-I can always depend on mommie - that's just our mommie, and we wuv her! BpppupMrrrow. =^..^=

  • In order to assist and help to fill in my dear little Edgar's blogging friends, you should know that Kitty, Delia's kittiecat, has a beautiful little freckle beside her little nose.

I have freckles, and something like that is VERY noteworthy (and unique!)

    Okay. Carry on... [giggle]

  • [Le coeur a ses raisons que la raisons ne connait point.]

(Shoeboy naps and dreams a little dream of Francesca)..."In my opinion, you're one *hot-dog*. Whether you're chasing *catsup* a tree or just sunning your *buns*...oooh the TALE of the HOTDOG WAGGIN'!"

Place aux dames! Hi Frenchys! I must've been asleep! I'm starving...and thirsty, too! But boy, oh boy!, your Mom and her informative, content-filled show!..."Drinking soda is not good for dogs."

I loved the Mello Yellow but my Mom panicked after watching the show so I transferred my affections onto Orange Crush!

But there was no hiding it! The color alone would light up a room so I went back to the Mello Yellow!

PS. This time, I'm not telling ANYONE! :)

  • PS. And just in case you two find yourself in a pickle this summer with all the heat and all, if it's OK, I'd like to share some recipes to relish. I mean, some relish recipes! :)

Yields: 10 to 12 pints Pan Size: stockpot

    20 green tomatoes
    4 c. chopped cabbage
    8 c. chopped onions
    24 green peppers, chopped
    12 red peppers, chopped
    1 c. salt
    12 c. sugar
    8 c. vinegar
    3 tbsp. mustard seed
    3 tbsp. celery seed
    1 tbsp. turmeric
    3 tbsp. dry mustard

Grind tomatoes, cabbage, onions, and peppers. Mix with salt in crock. Let stand overnight. Drain. Combine ground vegetables with sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, celery seed, turmeric, dry mustard and 4 cups water in stockpot. Bring to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes. Spoon into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace; seal with 2-piece lids. Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

    And here's one more beet-the-heat recipe! :)

    Yields: 2 quarts

1 qt. finely chopped fresh cabbage
1 qt. finely chopped cooked beets
    1/2 c. grated horseradish
    2 c. sugar
    1 tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. red pepper
    *Cider vinegar

Combine cabbage, beets, horseradish, sugar and seasonings in bowl; mix well. Spoon into jars. *Add enough vinegar to cover. Store covered in refrigerator.
