No dogs allowed again!

Posted by Francesca

Last Sunday, we piled in the car with Martha and Uncle Carlos and took a ride to Beacon, New York. It's very pretty there because Beacon is on beautiful part of the Hudson River. Martha was going to a museum called Dia:Beacon and we, of course, had to wait outside for her. You know, that ridiculous 'NO DOGS ALLOWED' rule. Not to worry - we always manage to have a good time seeing new places and meeting new friends. And of course, we just love being with Carlos.

The crab apples and viburnum were in full bloom on the museum grounds.

  • Hey gals,
Let's snatch the limo and head for the Doggie Shake Shack near the gardens~
You should send Martha a bill for your wait time, paid with doggie treats~

No dogs allowed!! BLAH BLAH BLAH People need to get over that old rule. First of all Frenchie's are not your typical dog, we are a breed above the rest. You never see a sign for NO CHILDREN ALLOWED and those things make more noise and mess then we ever would.

I just don't undertand do you????

  • I like Europe, they take doggies everywhere...at least the Museum workers got to get their picture taken with you sweet pups...outside!!!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: WOW, look at all the attention you two are getting. That must be so much fun. Did they feed you a big lunch and some snacks. They must have taken a zillion pictures you. Yeah, I hate it when I can't go in the stores, especially grocery stores. I wouldn't do anything bad in a museum (whatever a museum is) or any other place. There is a special place that welcomes all well-behaved pets and that is Pet Smart. I love to go there. Thinking about snacks makes me really hungry, so I better go and have one. See ya later, Love Gracyn.

  • I hate that No Dogs Allowed stuff! Nothing against small dogs, but it makes me mad when I go in a store, and here is somebody with a "purse dog". I always think, can I bring my dog in then? Of course, they would probably frown on a greyhound coming in their store! But hey, fair is fair!

  • HEY GUYS... I ALSO HATE THAT NO DOGS ALLOWED RULE... OUR MOM WOULD TAKE US EVERYWHERE IF PEOPLE WERE NOT SO MEAN ABOUT US... I FEEL THE RULE SHOULD BE BENT IF WE LISTENED TO OUR MOM.... I AM SURE YOU DO AND WE TRY TO SO PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND WE ARE FAMIY ALSO......YOU GUYS HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND WE WIL BE READING YOUR BLOG SOON.....LOVE NALA AND MACK

  • Hey F&S!

'Bone' jour! Ha ha ha! Boy does this remind me of when my Mom was looking for an apartment to rent. Everywhere she went it was 'no dogs allowed'. I recall her telling one slumlord, "You are SO right, I wouldn't 'allow' my dog to live here either!"

But she did just what you did though...had a good time anyway! Thankfully she found a nice landlord who absolutely preferred to rent to pet owners. She knew that a responsible pet owner is also a responsible tenant. Thank doG for animal lovers, yes?

  • I have 2 small yorkies and they are my kids. I try to take them every place I go but I to have trouble
and it's hard to go on vacation because I never know about our sleeping arangements, and I would never leave them. so for now no vacations for me but thats fine because my dogs give me all the joy I need.

  • Aye, guys if our owners would be more responsible there wouldn't be signs NO DOGS ALLOWED! Our mom carries in her pocket little colored baggies to pick up the little messes we make and then she throws them away in the trash barrel or holds onto them until we find a trash barrel and then rids them. We love to go on long walks and rides, but we are not allowed into a lot of places as individual dog owners have not been responsible for us and caring enough for others. We don't like for people to step into our messes and we understand why we are prohibited from places that read NO DOGS ALLOWED.

  • Mrrrow. No, I guess the limousine WASN'T for you two - it does give new meaning to the word 'stwetch', though, doesn't it?! My mommie saw this pwace on YOUR mommieMartha's blog and didn't know that you got to go awong. Sometimes we doggies-n-kittiecats just have to go awong wif the wules 'n obey all signs (big sigh!)...it's too bad you weren't awwowed inside. BpppupMrrrow. =^..^=

  • No dogs allowed??? I can't believe it. It would be a better world if we were allowed to more places. I'm glad your friend Carlos takes such good care of you. Seems you still had a grand time.
There's still many places, thankfully, that welcome dogs.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Comet

  • Hi Girl Friends, WOW, we just got to go on another tour with you two! How fun it was to meet all of those dog loving people and spend some quality time with Uncle Carlos! I can hardly wait to find out where we get to go next! Have fun. Love, Dudley Do Right xoxo

  • On arrival with my partner, our two small dogs and two friends there was an ugly incident with DIA's parking attendants. Our intention was that 3 ppl would visit the museum while one of us took the dogs and walked into town. We got out of the van and one of our party went to get an iced coffee for the person who was to walk the dogs...we waited in the parking lot several hundred feet from the entrance. One attendant infoed about the dog policy and we explained our plan and that we would leave as soon as the iced coffee arrived...

It quickly turned ugly as the attendant demanded aggressively that we leave "NOW"...it of corse escalated...I infottunately dais to him that he was being an ass. The attendant came within an inch oft nose shouting at me that I needed to get off "MY proprerty". I stood my ground restated my intention to walk the dogs into tow when my partner retuned with my iced coffee...again an inch from my nose he shoufed NOW then threatened to call the police. He never backed away from me staring me down repeating NOW...a woman from the museum came to observe and she said we should leave.

I doubt I will ever return ...DIA will remain ugly in my memory.
